Quick photo prop
Mystery writer, journal keeper, fibre and paper artist
When photographing small items, like cards or other art work, the camera lens and the object should be on the same plane. If you're working on a flat surface, this means leaning directly over the object. That's not always possible or comfortable. Here's a way to make a quick photo prop. Lay a clean dustpan on a flat surface. Prop a flat, stiff object over the dust pan. I use a hard placemat. You could also use cardboard; a thin, large children's picture book; or a piece of plexiglass. Whatever you use, it should be light because heavy objects slide. Cover with a towel, piece of cloth or neutral piece of wrapping paper.
