Mola Quilt Square
Mystery writer, journal keeper, fiber and paper artist
In the style of quilting done in Panama. Layers of colored cloth are laid down on the base, then each layer is cut away to reveal the cloth underneath it. This represents a turtle eating a slice of melon. This was a challenge piece. We had to take a photo graph of an open-air market and quilt something in the photo. There were huge melons in the photo, so I thought about a very fortunate turtle who had found herself a piece of melon.
